It started with a hike.
Our story
A few years ago Matt travelled to Peru with Radiating Hope, an organisation that brings radiation therapy to communities where cancer treatment is otherwise out of reach. The group spent a day in a hospital in Lima first. Clinicians from different countries, different health systems, different languages, all giving everything they had.
Then came four days on the Inca Trail. On the hardest day, at 4,200 metres, their guide talked about a principle that sits at the heart of Andean culture. Ayni: care and support flowing to where they are needed, not because of proximity or obligation, but because what comes back to the community is greater than what any one person put in.
On the final morning they walked up to the Gate of the Sun, where Machu Picchu is supposed to appear. It was raining so heavily they could not see a thing. Standing there anyway, soaking wet, carrying what he had heard on the trail and seen in Lima, something clicked.
A team in a small regional hospital deserves the same access to knowledge, expertise, and support as any major centre. Not because they can afford it. Because they are trying to give their patients the best possible care. That is what AyniHealth was built for.
Radiating Hope brings radiation therapy equipment and expertise to communities in low and middle income countries where a cancer diagnosis can mean no access to treatment at all. Their work is Ayni in practice.

The team
We have been where you are.
Matt was a radiation therapist before he spent two decades at Elekta watching hospitals take on new technology, some of it beautifully and some of it not at all. The difference was almost never the software. He started AyniHealth to build what those teams actually needed.
Tania spent 18 years in radiation oncology, most of it in the clinic, learning a new system in the gaps between patients. She has led MR Linac implementations and seen well-meant change quietly come apart. She co-founded AyniHealth to give teams what she never had.
Jason trained in neuroscience and has built AI where being wrong has a cost: patented perception systems, research platforms for the German Aerospace Centre. He is responsible for the whole platform.
Paul has been in the room for the arrival of most of the technology this platform helps teams adopt, from cone-beam CT to the MR Linac. Engineer, medical physicist, and for twenty years a leader in global med-tech, he has kept asking the same question throughout: does it reach the patient?
